Sicilia 2004!
Above are pictures of the incredible ruins at Agrigento.

Below are 2 of the lovely dinners we enjoyed - Sicilians serve 2 pasta courses, and then the meat course!  Needless to say, we ate well.
Rob led us all on a local shopping adventure in San Leone.

Below we explore the streets, churches, and restaurants of Palermo.

I couldn't resist taking a swim in the gorgeous pool at San Leone

Yet another dinner with that lovely Sicilian wine - no hangovers!
This is a picturesque town that we stopped to admire - I'll list its name as soon as I remember...
We all spent a lot of time at the hotel bar...
The Gazzolas at Mount Etna
Our hotel below the town of Taormina
Ah, the view from beautiful Taormina, where the rich come to vacation.  The cables behind me are for the gondola-like transport that takes beachgoers from their hotel on top of the mountain, to the beautiful beaches below, in under 5 minutes.
Lunch in Taormina
What's that Rob? I can't hear you!
(Rob standing by Dionysis's Ear, a huge quarry hole created by thousands of slaves with nothing but picks and wedges)
The city of Catania provides this daily service, as well as a wonderful outdoor market
Mom serving as a model for the marble statues that once adorned these alcoves surrounding the great Taormina amphitheater

(see the empty alcoves in the picture below)
An incredible site of ruins, with beautiful mosaics adorning every floor
views from the stands
Dad and I by the theater, enjoying the view
Me and the Hoge family  (I hope I've spelled that right)
The family, posing with our awards for having the most family members on the trip.
The vintage "McDonald Douglas" plane that took us home, duct tape and all
On April 16, 2004 the Gazzola family embarked upon its first family trip in over 20 years!  We, along with other members and guests of the DC Bar Association, traveled across Sicily and experienced its history, wine, and of course, food.  See below for pictures of our trip!
...and in case you are wondering, no, we are not Sicilian.
