Yes, I went to South Dakota for vacation, June 2005.
A perfectly framed view of Mount Rushmore
White tailed deer (or at least that's what I called them)
Prairie Dogs - the squirrels of South Dakota
Crazy Horse can be seen in the center of the view. Man, will that be impressive when it's done.
It was Laura's first time...
This was as close to the edge as we would get.
There was a bit of a storm blowing in.
And when you hear the emergency broadcast tones on the radio, it ain't no test.
But it helps that you can legally drive 75 mph to try and outrun the tornados.
We ended our trip back in Rapid City, enjoying Rachel Ray's suggestion of buffalo sausages wrapped in flapjacks. Not a bad way to finish a vacation!
